In ELA we follow the Animated Literacy program.  This program introduces us to different letters through songs, movement, and puppet stories.  So far we have been introduced to Polly Panda (P), Uncle Upton (U), Dr Ollie Ostrich (O), and Mimi Mermaid (M), Felix the Fox (X), Actress Annie (A), Daisy Dragon (D), and Timmy Tigger (T).

     Christmas season is finally here, and we are doing a gingerbread man theme this year.  Today we decorated gingerbread cookies and baked them.  When we went to get them from the oven they were gone!!! We didn't know what to do until we found a note, which led us to the office.  While in the office we found another note that led us to the library, and then the music room, the Christmas tree, and then back to our classroom where we finally found our cookies.  We still don't know what happened.  The students think that possibly Mr. Strange took them, or maybe someone opened the oven to soon and they jumped out and ran away...We will never know :)

     February is I Love to Read month at Roland School.  During the week of February 9 to February 13th we had guest readers scheduled to come into classrooms and read to the students.  On Thursday Constable Butt from the Carman RCMP came to our school and read to the K-2 classess.  He read a book about friendship and family to go with the Valentines Day theme.  The students were very excited to see the officer in his uniform come to thier school.  Constable Butt has agreed to come back to our school at a later date to answer any questions about his job that the students may have.
