We are currently working on a colors unit for science.

We recently did an experiment on color mixing.  We placed a small amount of milk in the bottom of a plastic plate.  The children then each choose two colors of food coloring to add to the milk.  After the food coloring was added the students took Q-tips dipped in Dawn dish soap and touched the soap to the food coloring.  This causes the colors to seperate from their spots and mix with the other colors.  The children really enjoyed this experiment.  We left the plates out so that the milk could dry, however due to continous poking the milk crumbled and the student's had to throw them away.  I was able to take pictures of them so that you could see the finished results.

The Kindergarten class has been working on a unit about paper.  We have learned about where paper comes from and how it is made. We also watched a video teaching us how to make paper out of jeans, the students thought this was pretty neat!  The Kindergarten class has learned about different types of paper and which paper is absorbent and which is pliable.  To end our unit on paper we are trying to create oragami.  We will be attempting to make various animals using the art of Japanese paper folding.
